Back pain is a common problem that is faced by many people these days. At times, back pain symptoms can be so debilitating that it is often a reason to miss work. For most people, pain in the back is only a temporary inconvenience, which can be resolved with proper care and/or medication, as the case may be. However, for others, it may very often be a lifelong problem, which needs to be carefully managed in order to carry on with routine day-to-day activities. A backache can be due to illness in other parts of the body, such as the kidneys, female reproductive organs, and lungs. Pain in the lower back can also be due to improper sitting postures and also sitting for a long time without a change in position.
Another reason for pain in the lower back is excessive physical exertion by way of lifting very heavy objects. Such activities increase the pressure on the back, which in turn develops into a backache. Back pain symptoms may also be caused by chairs, which do have enough support. Women may also experience pain in the back due to pregnancy. Wearing high heels for long periods is also a common cause for back pain, as these high heels do not provide adequate arch support to the heels. Emotional stress is a lesser-known cause for backache, as the rapid breathing at the time of stress could create tension in the spinal muscles.

Treatments For Lower Back Pain
The most common remedy for back pain is non-prescription painkillers, which are used frequently by most people. These pills however are not effective in most cases and ultimately medication prescribed by a doctor may be required. Cold packs are seen to be effective in providing relief for back pain symptoms in some cases. Yoga and light stretching exercises are also found to be useful in eliminating backaches and also in preventing further occurrences of back pain.
